After a flurry of last-day voting, we have a Bush/Gore-like finish to Knucklehead's BLOG-OFF 2010! After doing a quick recount of the votes cast in Dade County, Florida, I am pleased to announce that the first ever Blog-Off Champion is Mike Whiteman-Jones at Too Many Mornings.
Mike, go ahead and snag your trophy, and display it proudly on your site. You'll also receive an official Knucklehead refrigerator magnet (retail value: Squadoosh), and a gift card to the national dining establishment of your choice. Congratulations!
I would be remiss if I didn't take a moment to congratulate our runner-up, Candice Stroh at Life According to Candice. Always a popular choice, Candice garnered more total votes over the six-week competition, but was narrowly edged out in the Finals. As the runner-up, however, you will be asked to take over as the Knucklehead Blog-Off Champion should Mike be rendered unable to fulfill his duties and responsibilities (specifically, washing my car and mowing my lawn).
In a surprising surge, our second runner-up was Homemaker Man, who didn't let the fact that he wasn't an official participant in the Blog-Off deter him from putting forth a tremendous effort. Congratulations!
And finally, I'd like to thank everyone who participated in the competition and also all of you who took the time to vote. I hope everyone had a fun time, and you discovered a few new blogs to follow.
Stay tuned for Blog-Off 2011, coming next January!

Darn it, I have to wait a whole year for another Blog-Off??? Can't we have like a "Blog-Off Behind the Scenes...the Making Of" thing at least?? :)
Congratulations, Mike! This is proof positive that "shit happens". ;)
this was fun! thanks for hosting!
Yee haw! Congrats to Mike, Candice and Homemaker Man!
Sorry Candice, but Mike had Lady Gaga rooting for him!
Congrats to Mike!
interesting results.... Glad to have been introduced to Homemaker Man - GREAT blogger!!
Holy crap I took a few weeks off from blogging and see this! I thought for sure that candice was going to win, but then again I thought I was going to make it past the second friggin' round...
Anyways, I loved the whole thing and all of the contestants rocked.
Thanks for hosting this, Chris. I had a great time!
Candice got robbed!
Chris, I'll write a proper post about this Thursday or Friday, but I'd like to thank you for hosting the competition, inviting me to play and sending me a refrigerator magnet and a gift card to The Outback restaurant. I will be thinking of you and Candice and all the other talented contestants as I dine on the king of steaks, the 19-ounce New York strip, cooked medium well.
I'd also like to point out that I'm fully aware I didn't do this alone. I couldn't be more grateful to my fellow bloggers and the readers -- most of whom I don't even know -- who turned out in record numbers (according to my blog stats) to support me throughout the competition, especially in the final round. Everybody who participated was a worthy opponent, especially Candice, who has a large and faithful following because she calls it like she sees it with a wry smile.
One more thing: Winning, it turns out, is everything it's cracked up to be.
Mike- While you're dining out, feel free to have a bloomin' onion in my memory. Love those things!
Congrats on your big win. :)
Congratulations, Mike! And thank you, Knucklehead, for hosting this competition. I found several great blogs from it. :)
Loved Candice's homage to Seuss, but then Mike definitely put it over the top with his Leaving Las Vegas post! Congrats to two great writers!
I want a re-count.
Wait...
There was a competition of some sort going on here?
WTF.
I watched the voting going on for the last couple of days and I can tell there was some sort of cheating going on. During the competition, mr winner wasn't accumulating that many votes and all of a sudden he'd be getting 100 votes within a couple of hours? Very clever.
Way to go, Mike. It's a dirty job, but someone has to win it!
Chris: Great initiative. I really enjoyed all the great writing.
Thanks for hosting the blogoff...I found two more blogs to follow as a result! Hope you do this again in the future. Again, good job to the participants, and good work, Chris, finding such talented writers to participate.
I think the Florida voters messed things up... again
congrats to you all!
Congratulations folks-- and to Mike's final round win. And I second Candice's request for the vicarious Bloomin' Onion. Please enjoy one for us and describe it to us in all its deep-fried oniony glory. :)
Hey, Mr. Anonymous, you brave unnamed fellow, you, I didn't cheat. I employed a deliberate, carefully planned strategy of getting votes that worked. So did Candice; I didn't do anything she didn't do, I assure you, and if you analyze the vote totals you'll see that's clear. I was just a little luckier and a little more successful than her, winning by a mere 8 percent.
But who cares about that? Why are so many people angry that I won? Have I done something to hurt you people? Are you best friends with Candice or something? I don't even know you people. I don't even know if you are people. You could be automated sore-loser computer bots, for all I know.
For fucks' sake, this is reinforcing my fundamental belief that people are weird and getting weirder. The apocalypse cannot be very far away.
I agree.......Candice got robbed. Something in the milk ain't clean.
